World of Warcarft Hunter Guide
Roles: Damage and Pet Tanking
Notes for WotLK Expansion
Hunters have perhaps developed the most from the original World of Warcraft edition and became one of the favoured classes to solo through WoW. Hunters continue to be an exciting class to play with their traps, pets and ranged weapons.
One of the main changes in WotLK is an overhaul of the pet system. The loyalty system has been removed and the confusing training points system has been replaced with straight forward talents. This is a great improvement and just as your main character’s talent trees, each pet has it’s own talent tree, found on the talent window.
In what may seem like a sublte change, the defensive setting has been changed so that instead of only attacking when being hit, the pet will know attack as soon as you hit a mob. Watch out though, you’ll need to ensure that you pet does not pull a mob that you would otherwise have left a lone, some of those walks back to your body can be long if you make this mistake!
A good change is also that now when you pet is happy etc, you will not need to feed it anywhere near as often, so you don’t need to go around filling you valuable slots with food and can keep them clear for loot.
There are also some useful non-pet updates also. Aspect of the Viper, which regens mana, at the cost of damage done, has been modified useful for those long engagements in raids or with bosses.
Additional changes include a Kill Shot, being a finishing move and at level 80 Freezing Arrow (see you need those leveling guides) allowing for a ranged precise placement of a freezing trap.
With a simple pet system and increased powerful ranged attacks hunters now really only compete with Retributio Paladins on top of the damage charts and are now an even more rewarding class to play and is my personal favouraite.
WoW Hunter Class Overview
The hunter has is a great soloing class to play, which is very good if you are not interested in joining a group, or well, have few friends. The Hunters pet is perhaps the greatest non-player tank combines the class into the highest solo DPS class in the game and often compared to a priest / warrior leveling team.
